    Please note that commercial large appliances are not part of our program. They might be accepted at recycling sites for a fee. To find more information please call the preferred site directly.

  6. Many large appliances used for cooling purposes use chemical refrigerant that are harmful to the environment. By properly recycling large appliances, you help divert waste from landfills and help keep BC green.

  7. It is not recommended to dispose of large appliances in the trash, as they can contain hazardous materials that can harm the environment and yourself. Our program is a safe and responsible way to dispose for free of old unwanted appliances.

  9. There is no limit to the number of appliances that can be recycled at our sites, as long as they are all residential units and part of the program.

  10. Large appliances that contain refrigerant gases will be first serviced by a certified technician to remove the gas safely before it goes to a scrap metal recycler. Large appliances that do not contain refrigerant gas are sent directly to a scrap metal recycler.

  11. Absolutely. Some charitable organizations accept used appliances in working condition as donations. Check with local charities or thrift stores to see if they are accepting appliance donations.

The Major Appliances Recycling Roundtable (MARR) is a not-for-profit stewardship agency created to help BC residents safely dispose of their end-of-life residential appliances in an environmentally responsible manner, and without charge. MARR works closely with 200+ disposal facilities in BC.
